Karachi, 27th August, 2019: Closing ceremony of Digital Skills Workshop for Girls was held today to celebrate completion of 18-hours long training for 50 girls from Karachi. The Training enabled these girls to code a website. The participants learnt HTML, CSS, and basic Java Script. Guests from the US Consulate Karachi were present at the occasion. Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer - Cameron Thomas Shah talked to students. He said, “It’s really up to you young ladies like you who are the future of this country. If you can dream it, you can do it.” Experts from the field of coding helped the students understand career opportunities in the field of STEM focusing on coding and technology. Shamim Rajani - COO Genetech Solutions & Co-founder of CodeGirls, and Jehan Ara - president of P@SHA & founder of Nest I/O talked to the participants and encouraged them to follow their dream of becoming a coder. It was exciting to see how passionately the participants talked about the website they built during DSW. The websites were focused on different topics from education to fashion, to a website which would promote skilled people of Pakistan and much more. The ceremony came to an end with certificate distribution to the participants and a networking session. Similar group of 50 students is attending Digital Skills Workshop in Islamabad.
